Jarel and Khujo first worked together on a remix for Jarel's Shape Of Broad Minds project, which saw Khujo providing a guest verse on the track "OPR8R (Remix)". Following their first collaboration the pair continued to record, with Jarel producing and sharing vocals with Khujo. In an interview with HipHopDX.com Khujo recalls the start of the recording process:
“ | He had a track... that he wanted me to jump on. So he shot the song to me and I vibed to the song for a couple of weeks, I ain't gonna even lie. I was just kinda blown away a little bit because it was like this shit kinda remind me of some Organized Noize... I sent the song to him, he said it was dope. Next thing you know, he sent me some more tracks. I mashed them tracks. I was like, "Hold up, we might be on to something." And then the record label thought it'd be a good idea for us to put a couple more hits together. And once we kept sending all that stuff through cyberspace we came up with this Willie Isz project. And it felt like a Dungeon Family album to me. It felt like I was rapping with my two homeboys from OutKast, man. The way the production is and the way that JJ come off in the rhymes, it kinda remind me of my little brothers, OutKast. So it wasn't foreign to me, it felt like home.[2] | ” |
Before Willie Isz released any material they toured, performing shows across the UK and Europe, including festival performances at Montreux Jazz Festival,[3] Sónar in Barcelona[4] and a Lex showcase event with Neon Neon in London.[5]
Willie Isz have only recorded one album to date, "Georgiavania". Following the release of the album, Jarel the groups producer remixed several tracks by high profile groups and artists including Art rock|art rock band TV On The Radio and soul singer Maxwell.
